“What happened to Compass North? What about the next book? We haven’t heard from you in such a long time…”
Many of you already know about the enormous challenge my husband Mark and I are now facing. But some of you may not know--
Out of the blue, my energetic, fit and healthy husband was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer. He suddenly developed some perplexing symptoms and in an instant, with the diagnosis, our life plans were derailed.
Pancreatic cancer is one of the very, very bad cancers. The doctors don’t talk about cures, only chemotherapy to extend a devastatingly short survival projection.
But we have hope. Mark is not a statistic, and we will fight this, as we are able. I have been truly blessed to have had thirty years with the love of my life, and I’m greedy for more.
Compass North is currently out of print. Due to an unusual set of circumstances, I was offered the opportunity to retake my rights from my former publisher earlier this year, and I did so. I had planned to find a new home for Compass North and my sequel-in-progress, A Late Hard Frost, and I was also considering the self-publishing option. But for the immediate future, all my energy has to be focused on navigating through this scary new landscape of cancer.
We’ve received a tremendous outpouring of support and we appreciate all the help we’ve been given. Please send positive thoughts our way—we need them!
Best,
Stephanie
